Democracies must unite to face common challenges and to support each other. Currently the United Nations, NATO and the G-20, as typical examples, are not covering Western needs. A global world requires global initiatives.

The Friends of Israel Initiative is an idea brought to life by Jose Maria Aznar, former president of Spain, as and informal group of relevant personalities such as the Nobel price David Trimble; theologian George Weigel; former president of Peru, Alejandro Toledo; Italian philosopher and politician Marcelo Pera; italian parliamentarian Fiamma Nerestein; and US Ambassador John Bolton, among others. The Initiative has as bits primary goal to fight the growing trend of deligitimization of the State of Israel. It won't support specif policies or any governments, but the right of Israel to exist. The Initiative will defend Israel as a normal democratic country, with all The logical deffects and virtues of any democracy.
